Principal's Message

April 2024

Thank you to the parents, students, staff and community members who served on the recently ended school council term, and welcome to new members. Congratulations, Lara Watson, on taking on the role of school council president. We look forward to presenting the 2023 Annual Report at a public meeting in May.

We were excited to welcome Edward Crossland (Mayor | City of Yarra), who visited LHCS Richmond at the end of Term 1. Advance students celebrated with an afternoon tea fit with DJ performance, Q&A, and delicious treats.

At the end of March, we held our Term 1 student showcase at Richmond. This included a concert and art show. As always, our students rose to the occasion with exceptional music performances, and a range of innovative artwork on display.

In April I was invited to be part of a panel discussion at Monash University for a Diversity and Inclusive Education subject that is part of their Masters of Teaching course. Sascha, Seamus and myself also participated in several seminar sessions as part of an ongoing co-teaching partnership.

The first excursion of the 2024 WILD program took place on Tuesday 16 April, with an exciting rafting trip. These excursions will continue weekly, culminating in a multi-day camp taking place in the latter part of Term 2.

We are looking forward to working with our Koorie Engagement Support Officer (KESO), students and a local artist to create indigenous welcome murals at the entrances to our school at both Richmond and Coburg.

Following consultation for our campus name change that took effect at the beginning of this year, we are now considering changing our school name. I have submitted a naming request to the Wurundjeri Land Council to assist in this.

In the next few weeks we are expecting delivery of a new 20-seater Toyota Coaster to replace our old school bus. We can't wait to embark on more exciting excursions and adventures once it arrives.

Regards,

Ralph
