Our students have collectively earned 21 Birds since our last Whole School Celebration Day! For those who love the maths of our Egg/Chick/Bird Acknowledgement System, that's equal to 210 Chicks, or 2100 Eggs!
That means that our students have been acknowledged for displaying behaviours in line with Ambition, Compassion, Courage and Creativity over TWO THOUSAND times since our last Celebration Day. We couldn't be more proud of our students!
This week, our Prep students celebrated their 100th day of school with a fun-filled day of activities - and some very convincing costumes!
Dressed as 100-year-olds, the students proudly marked this milestone with creativity, laughter, and lots of grey wigs and walking sticks. Congratulations to our Preps on reaching this special point in their first year of school - we're so proud of how far they've come in just 100 days!
We are excited to celebrate Book Week at BHNPS with a range of activities that highlight and celebrate our students’ creativity and love of literature.
📚 Book Week Parade - Friday 22nd August, 9:00–10:00am in the Gym
All BHNPSK students (including Kindergarten) and their families are invited to attend our annual Book Week Parade. Come dressed as your favourite book character and join the fun!
🖊️ Open Classrooms & School-Wide Writing Session - 10:00–11:00am (immediately following the parade)
Families are invited to visit classrooms to view writing sessions in action and explore displays of students’ published work throughout the school.
🎉 Writer’s Festival – All Day Event
Every student will have a published piece on display in the corridors, linked to this year’s theme: ‘Book An Adventure!’ A panel of judges will select winning entries from each year level. Winning entries will be published in a special keepsake book!
🚪 Door Displays Are Back!
We’ll be showcasing themed door displays again this year - each classroom's door will be decorated in the theme of a chosen book.
📖 Book Fair - Tuesday 20th to Monday 26th August
Students and families will have the opportunity to purchase books and support our school library.
We look forward to sharing this celebration of reading and writing with you!
This term we have welcomed many new students via the International Student Program. We are very proud to be able to offer students a smooth integration into our school. For many of these students, it is their first time in Australia, let alone at an Australian school. Thank you to Kristen Lawrence and Olive Hsu (filling in for Shelley) who have been instrumental in helping our new families feel welcome and confident at Box Hill North Primary School.
This morning we held a session with all these new students and interpreters, to make sure they knew all the most important information to keep them safe in their new school and suburb.
The work of a School Wellbeing Dog is wonderfully varied, whether it’s greeting students at the gate, offering a calming pat between classes, or patiently waiting in Anna’s office during the parts of the job that require two-legged staff only!
While much of Sully’s work happens quietly and can’t be photographed due to privacy and confidentiality, we’re delighted to share a few snapshots from his time at school over the past week. Thank you, Sully, for the joy and calm you bring to our days!
As a school community, we all share the responsibility of keeping our students safe—both physically and digitally. In light of recent news stories highlighting the risks of unauthorised photography and the misuse of images involving children, we feel it’s timely to remind families of our Photographing, Filming and Recording Policy:
At Box Hill North Primary School, we recognise that school events—such as performances, sporting events and assemblies—are special moments families want to remember. While parents, carers and invited guests are permitted to photograph or film these occasions, we respectfully remind our community that any images or recordings must be for personal use only.
To protect the privacy of all students, we ask that families do not share photos or videos publicly (including on social media) unless you have obtained permission from the parents or carers of any other students who appear in the footage.
This reminder follows recent national conversations about child safety and digital responsibility. Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and respectful environment for every child in our care, from Kindergarten through to Grade 6.
