Leadership Report

100 days of Prep- you guys rock!!!!!
This week, we celebrated a very special milestone – 100 days of school for our wonderful Prep students! It was a beautiful celebration of learning, growth, and fun. Our Preps looked absolutely incredible dressed as if they were 100 years old, bringing smiles and laughter to everyone who saw them.
Throughout the day, students engaged in activities centred around the number 100, from creative projects to counting challenges – all designed to celebrate how far they’ve come. It’s truly amazing to reflect on the progress our youngest learners have made in just 100 days. Their growing confidence, independence and love of learning has been a joy to watch, and we couldn’t be prouder of them.
A huge thank you to our dedicated Prep team, who went above and beyond to make the day so memorable. The effort, energy and care they put into the celebration was appreciated by all and made the milestone even more special.
Well done, Preps – here’s to the next 100 days of learning, laughter and growth!
BOOK WEEK 2025 – "Book an Adventure!"
It’s time to start planning those amazing costumes – Book Week is just around the corner! Our annual Book Week Dress-Up Day and Parade will be held on Friday 15th August, with the parade taking place at 9:00am in the gym. Families are warmly invited to come along and enjoy the fun as students bring their favourite book characters to life.
This year’s national theme, “Book an Adventure!”, celebrates the 80th anniversary of Children’s Book Week. While your child’s costume doesn’t need to match the theme, it’s a wonderful opportunity to dive into the world of stories and imagination.
We're also continuing a much-loved tradition! We’re kindly inviting families to donate a new book to help grow our school library. These books will be added to each child’s Learning Community Library, and a special sticker will be placed inside to recognise your family's generous contribution. It’s a fantastic way to share the joy of reading and make a lasting impact on our school community.
We can’t wait to celebrate a week full of imagination, storytelling and literary adventure!
Curriculum Day – Friday 29th August
A reminder to families that Friday 29th August is a Curriculum Day and students will not attend school on this day.
Kelly Club will be offering full-day care on site and we encourage families needing care to register early to secure a place.
This Curriculum Day marks the fourth and final day of our two-year professional learning journey focused on the Berry Street Education Model (BSEM). This evidence-based model has provided us with a consistent framework to strengthen and align our whole-school wellbeing practices.
Our staff are excited to continue this important work and look forward to bringing these strategies to life in our classrooms and across our school community.
Thank you for your support as we invest in building the best possible learning and wellbeing environment for every student at Orchard Park PS.
Upcoming Student Celebration Day
On Monday 18th August, Orchard Park PS is thrilled to be running a celebration day for our students. The day will be filled with excitement and activities delivered by Kelly Sports, who are closely associated with our OHSC provider, Kelly Club. Students will participate in a range of sporting games and challenges in multi-aged groups to build their social skills and capabilities.
A Compass event will go live this Monday so keep an eye out for this. There will also be an opportunity for parent helpers to assist on the day, so please fill this section out if you are keen to support this fun-filled event.
Supporting Safe and Smooth Transitions to OHSC
At Orchard Park Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students is always our highest priority. We work in close partnership with Kelly Club to ensure students transition promptly and safely to Out of Hours School Care (OHSC) at the end of each school day.
To further support our youngest learners, we have recently made a small adjustment to our afternoon routines. From now on, all Prep and Year 1 students attending OHSC will be collected and escorted by a member of our Education Support (ES) team and walked directly to Kelly Club each afternoon. This change ensures a calm and consistent transition for these students, giving families peace of mind that their children are getting to care safely and efficiently.
For students in Years 2–6, we continue to build strong expectations of responsibility and independence. These students are expected to make their way directly to OHSC as soon as the school day ends. We ask that they do not stop to play or divert elsewhere, as the Kelly Club team needs to mark each child off the roll immediately upon arrival.
Both the school and Kelly Club have clear and rapid response procedures in place should a student not arrive when expected. Roll checks are completed promptly, school admin are notified for follow up and families are contacted quickly if a student has not arrived as scheduled.
These processes have recently been revisited to ensure they are consistently implemented. By working together, we’re creating a safe, reliable and structured end-of-day routine that supports our students' independence and wellbeing.
