PREP ENROLMENTS

Could families with preps starting in 2026, please lodge an enrolment form with the office next week. We are finalising numbers for next year and planning orientation sessions. Your support with this is appreciated.

AIP MONITORING

We are very pleased with the progress that has been made in relation to our Annual Implementation Plan. Some of the highlights include:

  • Alignment of Learning & Wellbeing goals and strategies
  • A strong sequence of Professional Learning to build upon knowledge of the new Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0
  • Professional Learning for our Junior School PLC Leaders with Dr Nathaniel Swain on ‘Strengthening P-2 Approaches to Reading’
  • The successful introduction of the phonics and word study program, PhOrMeS
  • Learning Specialists supporting all teams with collaborative reading planning
  • Every classroom and specialist teacher incorporated opportunities to respond in their instruction time to enhance student engagement and allow the teacher to check for understanding
  • Creation of the School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) team with a Department of Education Coach, Principal delegate, 2 Learning Specialists, 1 Teacher P-2, 1 Teacher 3-6, 1 Specialist Teacher and 1 Education Support member
  • Prioritised meetings and Professional Learning Days for the team to complete learning modules and develop the SWPBS Action Plan
  • Development and clarity of School Values, definitions and expected behaviours

NAPLAN RESULTS

We are very proud of this year’s NAPLAN results for our Year 3 and Year 5 students, particularly the strong outcomes in writing. These results reflect the impact of several highly successful years of professional learning in Writing and word recognition, and the development of our Writing Priority Standards, which now guide our planning and assessment.

CROSSING UPDATE

Engaging a crossing supervisor for the Aughtie Drive crossing is a complex matter. The City of Port Phillip is responsible for assigning supervisors to crossings on roads they manage, based on the pedestrian–vehicle volume formula. However, Aughtie Drive is managed by Parks Victoria, which does not operate a crossing supervisor program.

When I first began pursuing this issue in early 2023, a traffic study was conducted, and the crossing did not meet the required threshold. Since then, further studies have shown a significant increase in both pedestrian and vehicle traffic, particularly during the AGP bump-in and bump-out periods.

I have shared this updated data with the City of Port Phillip Council and have asked them to review their decision. I remain hopeful that an arrangement can be reached between Parks Victoria, the City of Port Phillip, and the Department of Education.

Your continued use of the crossing not only supports child safety but also strengthens our case, as Port Phillip assessors will soon return to conduct another traffic count.

PRINCIPAL APPRECIATION DAY

A huge thank you to the staff and all of your beautiful children for making Sam, Johanne, Melanie and I feel very special last Friday. The cards and morning tea were gorgeous and greatly appreciated.
