Mr Jim Noble, Assistant Head of College - Boarding
Over the June school holidays, my wife and I had the privilege of embarking on a special journey to visit some of our Marist boarding families - past, present, and future. We travelled more than 1,700km across Queensland, reconnecting with our wider Marist community and witnessing firsthand the strength and spirit of our regional families.
Our travels took us through Murgon, Gayndah, Theodore, Moura, Springsure, Emerald, Alpha and Rockhampton. Along the way, we were welcomed with genuine country hospitality and had the chance to sit down with families, share stories, and see where our boys call home.
A highlight of the trip was catching up with our Marist boys proudly representing the College at the Confraternity Shield in Rockhampton. We also enjoyed an evening gathering with our local Rockhampton families, which was a wonderful opportunity to deepen those connections in a relaxed setting.
What stood out most was seeing the boys at home - pitching in on the property, taking pride in their communities, and sharing with us where they come from. Their pride in their backgrounds is a fantastic reminder of just how fortunate we are to have such grounded and hardworking young men enriching the boarding community at Marist College Ashgrove.
It was a privilege and a joy to make this trip. These visits continue to affirm the unique and vital role our boarders play in the life of the College.
This term, we will be holding an online meeting of the Boarder Parent Network - a valuable opportunity for boarding parents and guardians to hear about key updates and developments in the boarding school. It’s also a great chance to ask questions and provide constructive feedback.
Please note that the meeting, originally scheduled for this week, has been rescheduled to:
Wednesday 30 July
5:00 PM (via Microsoft Teams)
A Teams link will be emailed to all boarding families ahead of the meeting. We encourage all boarding parents and guardians to attend and stay connected with the school community.
We have a number of upcoming regional visits where Marist Ashgrove Boarding will be represented at key events.
Our team looks forward to catching up with our wider community at all of these events.
