Learning Power Award Recipients

Congratulations to students who have been recognised by staff for their demonstration of one or many of the 6 Learning Powers celebrated at SMDP.

On Monday, during our whole school assembly, the following students were acknowledged and their learning described so we all know why they are worthy recipients of our awards and applause.

Aryan

This award goes to you for your motivation during Writing lessons! It is wonderful to hear you sounding out words with confidence, and using the bump it up wall to grow your writing. Keep up this brilliant effort, well done for setting a great example to your peers!

Nahuel

 

For being a resilient learner who is trying hard each day to become part of the SMDP community. He is learning to follow the Ways of Working (WoWs), doing his best, and giving a little extra. He is asking peers to play, taking turns, and showing growing confidence in building friendships and following school routines.  Well done Nahuel.

For showing a deep sense of curiosity by asking thoughtful and meaningful questions during our inquiry wondering lesson. Your questions sparked discussion, encouraged deeper thinking, and showed a true love of learning! You collaborated well with your table group and completed the task successfully! Well done Nisha

For consistently showing resilience in your learning. You tackle challenges with a positive attitude and a wonderful willingness to try, even when something feels challenging at first. You also have a thoughtful eye for noticing when a friend needs help and are always ready to lend a hand. Your kindness and teamwork make you a truly valued member of our class. For being a motivated learner. You approach challenges with determination and do not give up, even when things feel tricky. This week, you wrote an interesting plan for a persuasive writing piece about why we need doctors, demonstrating curiosity and care for your community. Dhruv, you are a great example of a kind and motivated learner in Year Two — keep it up!

For being a motivated learner in Maths. You have been passionate and excited by the challenge of Numbots and have exceeded expectations by extending your learning at home and smashing your goals. You have also communicated your love of learning with us and I have enjoyed our many many discussions about your achievements. Keep it up Leon!

For being a reflective learner who is constantly reflecting on her learning and the ways it can be improved! Every time we begin a new maths topic Ivy sets herself a goal and works on it with positivity and persistence. Seeing her beam with pride when she achieves her goals is inspiring to all learners. Ivy, you are an absolute gem!

For being a reflective learner this week. You created a detailed and informative learning slideshow to share with your family. You thoughtfully reflected on your achievements and identified clear goals, along with the steps you will take to reach them. You further demonstrated your reflective skills when editing your slides. You then considerately shared your finished slides with the class to help others. Keep driving your learning, Niven!

For being a curious learner while reading. You have thoughtfully explored illustrations and used your imagination to make inferences beyond what you see. Your ability to create rich and detailed stories from pictures shows a deep level of thinking. Keep asking questions and thinking beyond the illustrations of a story. Well done, Hartlyn.

This is evident in your writing, which now includes details to draw your reader in and a variety of writing techniques to create interest in your stories. This award goes to you for your resilience! It's amazing to see how you face tricky tasks with such a can-do attitude and a wonderful desire to just give it a go, even when it feels hard. You also have such a caring nature, always spotting when a friend might need support and stepping in to assist. Your warmth and collaborative spirit make our classroom a better place every day. Congratulations, Thomas, you have  demonstrated incredible resilience in Term 3! Your dedication to tackling all learning, even when it felt hard, has been exceptional. We've seen you expertly employ strategies to return to your 'green zone' and persist with your work, again and again, until you succeed. Well done, you are achieving great things!

For showing impressive reflection and responsibility in his writing. He has been working hard towards his personal goal by carefully writing on the dotted thirds and making a great effort to include full stops at the end of his sentences. You arrived at school with a big smile and you have been ready to learn, sitting on the carpet, eager to start each lesson. During our recent grammar lesson, you included adverbs in your sentences. She had many questions and make new observations. It was refreshing to see the excitement and enthusiasm that Madie exhibited during the excursion. Keep up the wandering and exploring Madison!

This award goes to you for your creativity during our 100 Days of School celebration! You showed great resilience during our tabletop activities, when you were an engineer learning how to stack 100 cups into a pyramid which proved to be a tricky task, and you kept on going even when they fell down! It has been a joy seeing how you have flourished into a bright, hard working learner! Well done Olivia!

For demonstrating motivation and creativity for the whole of our 100 Days Brighter Celebration! You joined in every activity with a big smile and gave everything your best effort. When your bead necklace fell apart, you didn’t give up, you kept threading and re-threading until it was finished! You collaborated with your friends to build a giant 100 cup tower and stayed focused all day. You made our celebration better with your excitement for learning and your never-give-up attitude. Well done, superstar!

For being a motivated learner. During our multiplication lessons, you didn’t just give up when problems got tricky- you kept going, even when there were two steps to think about! You used everything you’ve learned about arrays and equal groups to work things out, showing how much you’ve been paying attention.

For being a collaborative learner and a great team player! Vrishank has shown fantastic problem-solving skills when working with others, especially during iPad activities. He supported his peers in posting to Seesaw using the Pic Collage app and created an impressive animated Pic Collage that we can all learn from. Well done, Vrishank — your teamwork and tech skills are a real asset to the class!
