Principal's Message

Principal’s Message – Welcome to Term 3

Dear Families,

Welcome back to Term 3! I hope you all had a restful and rejuvenating break. We’re excited to begin another term filled with rich learning experiences, joyful moments, and opportunities for growth.

NAPLAN 2025 Results for Year 3 and Year 5

Today, our Year 3 and Year 5 students will be bringing home their 2025 NAPLAN results. These assessments provide a snapshot of your child’s progress in literacy and numeracy and are one of many tools we use to support student learning.

We encourage you to spend some time reviewing the results with your child, celebrating their efforts and discussing areas of strength and growth. Remember, NAPLAN is just one part of the broader picture of your child’s learning journey. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact their class teacher.

Zing Activ Dance Lessons

This week, our Kindy to Year 6 students jumped straight into action with the commencement of Zing Active dance lessons. We’re thrilled to welcome back Jae, our talented dance instructor, who brings energy and enthusiasm to every lesson. We are already planning our end of term Interschools Dance Competition.

Public Speaking - Guest Speaker

Our Year 4, 5, and 6 students had a special visit from Matt Cross Member for Davidson, who generously shared his insights and tips to help prepare them for the upcoming Public Speaking Competition. It was a valuable experience that inspired confidence and encouraged our students to find their voice.

School in the Olden Days

Meanwhile, our Stage One students embarked on an engaging excursion to the NSW Old Schoolhouse in North Ryde, where they explored what schooling was like in the “Good Old Days.” This hands-on experience helped them appreciate the changes of education and sparked meaningful conversations about learning across generations.

The excursion supports inquiry questions such as:

  • How has school and everyday life changed and remained the same over time?
  • How do we know what school was like in the past for children and teachers?
  • What aspects of past schooling can be seen today and what do they tell us?

CENSUS DAY

Each year, all Australian schools participate in the Schools Census, which provides vital information to the Australian Government about our students and staff. This year, Census Day is Friday, 1 August 2025. Could you please ensure your child is punctual for school on Friday.

The census helps inform government funding, policy development, and updates to the My School website, which supports transparency and community understanding of school demographics.

What does this mean for our school and your child?

  • We report de-identified data about student enrolments, including:
    • Total number of students
    • Students on visas
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
    • Students with disability (as part of the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability – NCCD)
  • The census reference period includes the 20 school days leading up to and including Friday, 1 August. This excludes weekends, public holidays, and pupil-free days.
  • All staff employed or engaged on Census Day are also reported.

Please be assured that no personal or identifiable information is shared in this process. The data collected is used solely for statistical and funding purposes.

If you have any questions, concerns about the census, NCCD or any other areas please feel free to contact the school office.

Curriculum Overviews - Available next week

Next week, we will be sharing our Term 3 Curriculum Overviews with families. These documents provide a snapshot of the key learning areas and focus topics your child will be exploring this term across subjects such as Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Science, Creative Arts, History, Personal Development, Health and Physical Education.

Curriculum Overviews are designed to:

  • Keep you informed about your child’s learning journey
  • Support conversations at home about classroom activities
  • Highlight opportunities for family engagement in learning

Curriculum Overviews will be available via Compass, and we encourage you to take a moment to read through them and reach out to your child’s teacher if you have any questions.

Kindest regards,

Pauline Dinale

Principal
