From  Our Students

Foundation

This month, our Foundation students celebrated reaching 100 days of school with a day full of fun and themed activities. To mark the occasion, students dressed up as elderly people, bringing lots of smiles and excitement to the celebration. The day was filled with hands-on

activities focused on the number 100, helping the students engage with this milestone in creative ways.

They enjoyed 100 dot painting, decorating sheets with 100 stickers, stacking 100 cups, and playing “Roll and Race to 100”. After a morning of learning and play, the class came together for a special party lunch, sharing in the joy of their accomplishment. To add to the day's celebration, our students got party bags, with a special '100 day's smarter' t-shirts.

The 100 Days of School celebration was a wonderful way to acknowledge the students’ learning and how far they have come in just 100 days of school.

This month, we were also excited to welcome a local firefighting team from Croydon Fire Station to our school for an engaging and educational visit. Students had the opportunity to learn all about fire safety—what to do in case of a fire, and the importance of having a fire plan at home.

The firefighters also spoke about the important role emergency services play in keeping our community safe. They showed the students some of the special equipment used during rescues and explained how each item helps them do their job. A big highlight was seeing the firefighter's uniform up close and learning how it protects them during dangerous situations.

Students were given a tour of the fire truck and got an up-close look at the many tools stored on board—including the different types of hoses they use. Of course, the most exciting part for many was getting a chance to have a go at using the hoses themselves!

We extend a huge thank you to the team at Croydon Fire Station for taking the time to visit and share such valuable knowledge with our students. It was an unforgettable experience, and we’re proud of how engaged and curious our students were throughout the sessions.

Juniors

Our Juniors have been diving into the  world of shapes! They've been learning how to identify, name, and describe a wide variety of shapes, with a special focus on quadrilaterals. Using different materials, they’ve had hands-on fun creating their own shapes, helping to build a strong understanding of shapes in a practical and creative way.

In Inquiry, juniors been stepping back in time to explore what school looked like in the Olden Days. The students have been learning about the history of teaching, comparing classroom life then and now, and discovering how schools have changed over time. They’ve really enjoyed exploring the differences between classrooms of the past and today, and have been fascinated by how different life was for students long ago!

Middles

Our Middle School students had an exciting excursion to the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The day began with a guided tour of the iconic stadium, where the students learned about its  history and significance in Australian sports culture. Following the tour, they explored the Australian Sports Museum, discovering exhibits that celebrate some of the country’s greatest athletes and sporting moments.

The highlight of the day for many students was the “Game-On” section, where they had the chance to test their own sporting skills through a variety of interactive activities. From kicking the footy and rock climbing to surfing and more, the students eagerly took part in games that challenged their coordination, balance, and teamwork. The hands-on nature of these activities made the experience both fun and engaging.

Overall, the excursion to the MCG was a fantastic opportunity for the students to connect with Australian sporting history while enjoying a day full of learning and active play.

Seniors

Our senior students have been diving into an exciting Geography unit as part of their inquiry learning. They’ve been exploring what makes a city liveable, discovering a wide variety of cuisines, and comparing school systems from different parts of the world.

Students have researched countries such as New Zealand, China, Malaysia, Germany, Korea, and many more. As part of their investigations, they've looked into each country's religion, population, and population density. They’ve also explored aspects such as average family size, wealth, and other key social and cultural indicators that influence the way people live.

It’s been a fantastic opportunity for our students to develop a global perspective and deepen their understanding of the diverse world we live in.
