Grandparents Day

A huge thank you to everyone who helped make Grandparents Day such a fantastic success! We've received so much lovely feedback from our visiting grandparents and special friends, who were absolutely wrapped! Many commented on how much they loved the day, and I have to say, I was blown away too as I wandered through classrooms and saw the joy and connection on display.

Thank you to our teachers for planning such thoughtful, creative activities for grandparents and their grandchildren to enjoy together. The atmosphere in every room was warm, welcoming, and full of smiles.

To the PTFA, led by Amy Newton – what an incredible morning tea! The flowers, lamps and decorations were absolutely stunning, and the spread was so generous. Thank you also to the many parents who brought along morning tea items and helped with setup and serving; your support made it all possible.

A big thank you to the Year 9 teachers and students who greeted grandparents at the front gate, guided them to classrooms, helped serve morning tea, and even stepped in as substitute grandchildren when needed. You made such a difference and showed real kindness and maturity.

A shoutout to our admin team, who kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes.

Thank you also to all the families who made the effort to organise for grandparents and special friends to visit; we know it takes coordination, and it was so lovely to see the children proudly sharing their school day with loved ones.

It truly was a special morning and a beautiful reflection of the heart of our school community.

Primary Performers’ Production – My Son Pinocchio

On the final day of Term 2, Junior School students enjoyed a wonderful excursion to the Lighthouse Theatre to see the Primary Performers’ production of Disney’s My Son Pinocchio. We were especially excited to attend, as several of our very own King’s College students were part of the cast; and they certainly didn’t disappoint!

Congratulations to Maeve, Henry and Sebastian for their outstanding performances. Your hard work, enthusiasm, and talent truly shone on stage. Thank you for sharing your gifts with us; it was an absolute joy to watch!

Prep

We have had a super exciting start to term 3! We loved having all our grandparents come to visit us this week. We've celebrated Lochie's birthday and Olivia's new puppy. We have gotten straight into our learning, practicing reading and writing digraphs. It has been a great week!

Year 1

Year 1 have had a wonderful start to Term 3! After an exciting holiday break, it’s been such a blessing to return to the classroom, reconnect with friends, and settle back into our learning routines.

We were especially thankful this week to welcome our amazing grandparents and special friends. It was such a joy to open our classroom, make colourful necklaces together, and share some of our beautiful work and learning. One of the highlights of the morning was definitely the Hokey Pokey Dance there were smiles, laughter, and lots of happy hearts!

We are reminded of God’s goodness in the gift of family, friendship, and the joy of learning in community. We’re looking forward to all that Term 3 holds!

Year 2

It has been a wonderful and exciting start to Term 3! All of the Year 2s had an amazing time with their grandparents and special visitors on Monday for Grandparents Day! We played games, interviewed our special visitors, showed them some work and completed other activities together. Thank you to all of the special visitors that we had come in on Monday, it is always such a highlight for our students!

Monday also happened to be the 100th day of school! To celebrate, students wrote about what they might be like at 100 years old, they made 100th day crowns, found 100 items that were hidden around the classroom, did a 100th day workout, and many more fun tasks. Well done Year 2 for now completing over 100 days of school this year!

Year 3

Year 3 has started the term with a bang and one of the first things that we did was take some time to reconnect with each other. This included an Escape Room Task, where we had to solve puzzles together in small groups and escape the room!

We’ve also started our new Science topic and started learning about heat conduction. We did a little experiment to find out which materials are good conductors of heat.

The highlight of our first two weeks so far though, was Grandparents Day. We had some super special visitors come and join us for the morning and spend some quality time. It was such a beautiful day!

Year 4

The Year 4 students had a wonderful time welcoming grandparents and special friends on Monday! It was a joy to watch them interact together and engage in different learning activities. The students had all created an artwork of their special person and enjoyed sharing that together, the life-likeness was very striking in some cases!

Another fun part was all doing some times tables races together, I’m not sure who was faster, the Year 4 students or the special friends! Special mention to Bobby Joe’s nana and Luke O’s grandparents for their very speedy times tables facts!

Phillip Island Camp

Year 6 have been on camp at Phillip Island this week and have had an amazing time. The drive up was long but made enjoyable by each others company. Even before we got to our camp we got to explore the Chocolate Factory. Then when we got to camp we set up and did the low ropes course and drove the pedal cars around the camp race course. That night we went to Clip and Climb and we found that we have a class full of very capable monkeys who can climb anything.

On Wednesday everyone conquered their fears and zipped down the flying fox and screamed when they released themselves on the giant swing. (Well, they didn't all scream, just some!) These were followed by archery and climbing the Pinnacle. Then we got to go kayaking, on the ocean! After tea, the students and staff put on a wonderful Talent Show. Who knew we had so much talent in Year 6?!

Thursday was a jam packed day of playing mini golf, magic tricks, illusions and mazes at Amaze 'n Things. After lunch we explored Churchill Island farm and saw sheep shearing,  working dog demonstrations and whip cracking. After tea, we visited the cutest little black and white waddling critters and watched them parade up the beach to their burrows. Some of us were lucky enough to see some only 30cm from us.

Even though we have the long drive home on Friday, we still get to do treasure hunts and visit Koalas before we go. It has really been a wonderful and amazing time for us all on camp. To top it off the staff have been so proud of all the compliments we have got about the fantastic class of children we have. They have really made us proud.

Food Tech

Year 6 kicked off Food Tech this term by getting to know the kitchen and learning key health and safety rules. To finish, they cooked stewed cinnamon apples and enjoyed them with yoghurt and granola – a warm and tasty start to the semester!
