Principal's Update
During the recent holiday break, a team of staff travelled to Uganda to visit Ararat Christian Junior School and strengthen our partnership with the school. The team included Allister Rouse, Michael and Lyndell Tucker, Steve Griffin, and parent Sam Newton - fondly known throughout the trip as “Farmer Sam”.
The group was warmly welcomed by staff and students at Ararat, where they engaged in teaching across a range of subjects including literacy, numeracy, environmental studies, and Christian education. Working side-by-side with Ararat teachers provided a valuable exchange of ideas, encouragement, and shared purpose in education.
Beyond the classroom, the group participated in a variety of ministry and community activities hosted by Pastor Gideon Kabenge’s Streams of Healing Church. These included a Men’s Breakfast and a Youth Meeting. Each of us had the opportunity to speak at one of these events. Allister and Michael had the privilege of baptising seven people in the Christian faith. One of the most memorable highlights was being involved in five wedding celebrations, a truly vibrant and joy-filled expression of community and faith.
“Farmer Sam” quickly became a beloved figure, bringing humour, warmth, and practical agricultural insights wherever he went. His participation in the trip reminds us all of the unique contributions each person brings to a trip like this, regardless of their background or profession.
The entire trip was a powerful testimony to the unity of the global church and the life-changing impact of genuine relationship and shared mission. We return deeply moved by the hospitality, resilience, and faith of the Ugandan people, and we look forward to continuing this growing partnership in the years ahead.
Thank you to our school community for your prayers, encouragement, and support that helped make this journey possible.
