Religious Education in the Classroom
Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop- 8 August
This week, our students celebrated the Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australia's first saint. Through a variety of classroom activities, students read about her life and reflected on her message and our school theme this year to "Never see a need without trying to do something about it."
Students also enjoyed a St Mary MacKillop scavenger hunt around the school grounds, where they discovered key facts about her life and mission.
The Foundation Students painted pictures of St Mary MacKillop and can be seen on display in the School Hall.
First Holy Communion
Our Year 4 students are eagerly preparing to receive the Sacrament of First Holy Communion this weekend. Throughout the term, they have been learning about the significance of the Eucharist and the special symbols associated with this sacrament. Students created beautiful Eucharistic symbol artworks, which are displayed in the Front Office.
As part of their First Holy Communion preparation, our Year 4 students welcomed the team from Catholic Vocations Melbourne. They spoke with the students about the importance of serving others and how, through the Eucharist, we are called to share God's love by helping those in need.
We keep our Year 4 students and their families in our prayers as they prepare to receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the first time.
