Shine the Light

Foundation
Foundation students had a fantastic day celebrating Milo the Monkey’s birthday!
The children arrived dressed as an animal beginning with the same letter as their name.
Throughout the celebrations, the children enjoyed a range of fun activities inspired by our Little Learners friends. We played Pin the band-aid on Ben the bear, decorated delicious Roxy the rabbit biscuits, designed and created our very own Sally the snake sock puppets, and worked together to make a beautiful class quilt that Queenie the quail would certainly have been proud of. We also enjoyed some tasty Peter the penguin inspired popping popcorn, which was a huge hit.
To finish our special celebration, we gathered together for a birthday dance, sang a very enthusiastic Happy Birthday to Milo, and shared the most scrumptious cupcakes to mark the occasion.
A huge thank you to all of our families for helping the children dress up and for supporting the wonderful day.
Year 2
This term the Year 2 students are learning all about the states and territories of Australia! We began with Victoria and learnt about the history of Melbourne. We went to the Melbourne Museum and found out many interesting things about Melbourne in the past. We were all very excited to see Phar Lap too! A huge thanks to our wonderful mums for coming along for the day, we appreciate all your support and hope you learnt something too.
This week we have been learning about New South Wales. Did you know the state flower is a Waratah? The students were very creative and made their very own Sydney Harbour Bridge. Some even added fireworks like it is New Years Eve.
Year 3
The Year 3's are enjoying our novel study on the classic book Charlotte's Web. We have been learning new vocabulary, completing sentence level writing and answering questions about the text.
Year 4
Tomorrow evening, our Grade 4 students will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion, an important milestone in their faith journey. In the lead-up to this special occasion, students have participated in a range of learning experiences to deepen their understanding of the significance of the Eucharist. Most recently, they made meaningful connections between our Positive Education focus on Trust and the importance of trusting in God, reflecting on how faith can guide and support them throughout their lives. We ask that you keep our Grade 4 students and their families in your prayers as they prepare to receive this special sacrament. We wish them every blessing as they celebrate this memorable occasion.
Year 5
Year 5 Camp was fun! We loved the giant swing, it felt like we were flying like a superhero! Everyone had a great time in their cabins and the food was good. Mr Murphy got stuck on the giant swing and everyone pulling the rope fell over from all the force! The activities were Archery, Canoeing, Orienteering, Giant Swing, Bike Riding, and Survivor. On the last day we roasted marshmallows by the fire! Once we got home we were super tired so some of the people had the day off scholl the next day.
Year 6
Year 6 has had another huge week of sport, with students participating in two days of netball events as well as the District Athletics Carnival on Monday. In the classroom, students have been working hard on their narrative writing, inspired by our novel study of Holes. They have also been exploring the similarities and differences between Australia and other countries, with a particular focus on population and wealth. This has led to some fascinating discussions and has certainly been an eye-opening learning experience for many of our students!
