A message from the Principal
Dear Students, Parents and Families,
We are now at the midway point of Term 2 and what a dynamic five weeks it has been. We have welcomed some new key staff members to the school. Emma Fitzpatrick is the new Senior School Leader. Raj Kaur is the Disability Inclusion and Intervention Leader.

Caterina Carnovale joins us as the new Business and Facilities Manager. Following the retirement of Marg Lawless, Matt Phan has been appointed as the Wellbeing Team Manager. We are incredibly fortunate to have each of them join the Reservoir High School community.

On Wednesday April 22, I had the privilege of attending the ANZAC Service at the Kokoda Memorial at the National Park in Ferntree Gully. The service was overseen by the 2/14th Battalion Association, whose men served in World War II in Papua New Guinea. It was here that Bruce Kingsbury performed an extraordinary act of valour and courage and ultimately sacrificed his life for his fellow servicemen and to protect all Australians. I was joined by our School Captains, Mackenzie and Aiden who laid a wreath on behalf of Reservoir High School. Clara Koodrasev, who is the current recipient of the Bruce Kingsbury Scholarship presented her award winning poem. Clara’s ability to weave a poignant and powerful narrative within her poem was outstanding. Everyone present was enthralled.
The whole-staff Curriculum Day, which took place on Friday May 8 focused on embedding Aboriginal Perspectives into our Curriculum and learning programs. The day consisted of a presentation led by the school’s Koorie Engagement Officer, Tom Jackson. It was profoundly moving, powerful and articulated the critical importance of truth-telling and educating all students in the rich history and deep knowledge of the oldest continuous living culture in the world.
Students across the school undertook the annual Attitudes to School Survey. The data that we receive from the students is of significant importance. It allows us to understand the experience of our students at Reservoir High School, including in their learning, their wellbeing and how engaged and connected they are in our school. We use the data to inform areas for improvement, as we are continually striving to make our school the place where each individual will thrive.
The second half of this term is just as event filled, with the Best of the British Bands Showcase, the Performing Arts Evening, District Inter-School Sports events, the Year 9-11 Exam Program and Year 10 Work Experience. It makes me so proud to be the Principal of a school that allows our young people to explore their passions and have so many wonderful opportunities.
Kind regards,
Katie Watmough
Principal
