Missions Trip

Going on missions was one of the best things I’ve ever done. We began preparing and talking about the trip long before it happened, and the effort we put in beforehand to learn about cultures and get to know our groups better was so worth it. When we got to Townsville, we spent a few days on the YWAM base - getting to know the Discipleship Training Students (DTSs) and deepening our relationships with God. After a laughter and music-filled road trip, we arrived in Yarrabah. From playing sports with kids, cleaning up beaches, trying new foods, praying with the community and running a church service, our experience at Yarrabah was unforgettable. Not only did our class become closer together in friendships, but we all became closer to our Heavenly Father. By showing the people of Yarrabah the love of God through our actions, words, and prayers, we planted and nurtured seeds of faith in many people. We were able to spread the good news of God and his love.

The Year 10 Missions Trip to Townsville was unbelievably amazing. We had so many life-changing experiences, from hanging out with the YWAM and DTS students in Townsville, to exploring communities at Palm Island and Yarrabah, and all the conversations and encounters in between. Over the 11 days, I grew so much closer to my peers, to the teachers, and most of all, to God. Every single day I could see God working through the people around me, directing their paths and giving them courage to leap out of their comfort zone. I personally experienced God’s presence for the first time on this trip, and it has left a lasting impact on me and I can’t wait to see what else God will do for others on future trips! This was definitely the highlight of the year, and I KNOW that anyone else who goes will enjoy it just as much as I did.

Going on a mission trip was truly life-changing. Visiting a new community, connecting with people, and spreading God’s message was an incredible experience. I especially enjoyed staying at the YWAM base, getting to know the DTS students, and playing with the kids on Palm Island. One of my favourite moments was meeting a boy named Xavier and forming a friendship with him. The next day, he even joined us at church, and it was amazing to see God working through us to share His love. I returned to Melbourne with a deeper relationship with God and a stronger trust in His plan.
