Library News: A Big Year for Our Little Borrowers!
Two weeks ago, we revealed that over 31,000 books have been borrowed from our school library this year. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be sharing how many books were borrowed across the different stages and pods. This week, let’s celebrate the achievements of our wonderful Kindergarten students!
Kindergarten Borrowing Statistics

Total Books Borrowed: 2,520
As the statistics show, our Kindergarteners have had an impressive year of borrowing!
- Echidnas have borrowed a combined total of 801 books.
- Koalas have borrowed an incredible 978 books.
- Wallabies have borrowed a fantastic 741 books.
Altogether, our youngest learners have borrowed 2,520 books this year—a remarkable accomplishment, especially since they only began borrowing two books per week at the start of this term.
Supporting Your Child’s Reading Adventures
Reading is one of the most valuable activities you can share with your child. Here are some simple and enjoyable ways to encourage their love for books:
- Read Together Every Night: Spend 10–15 minutes reading to your child before bed. It’s a wonderful bonding activity and helps build their vocabulary and comprehension skills.
- Visit Your Local Library Together: Allow your child to pick out books they’re excited about, fostering their independence and curiosity.
- Create a Reading Nook at Home: Set up a cozy spot with pillows, blankets, and their favourite books to make reading feel like a special treat.
- Model a Love for Reading: Let your child see you enjoying a book, magazine, or even an audiobook—your enthusiasm can be contagious!
- Ask Questions About Their Books: Encourage your child to share what they’ve read. Questions like “What was your favourite part?” or “Which character do you like best?” spark meaningful conversations.
A heartfelt thank you to all our amazing Kindergarten parents for supporting your children’s reading journey and encouraging them to borrow from our wonderful library.
Next week, we’ll take a closer look at the borrowing habits of Stage 1 students. Stay tuned!
