Spotlight on Learning

Focus on Coral Pod
This week in Stage 2, students have been learning about symbols and emblems in History. Students used their character strength of creativity to apply their learning by creating their own personal emblem.
Mia
My emblem’s first part represents my favourite part of the world - Japan and the food from Japan. The second is my family - my dad, mum, brother and myself. The third part is sport - tennis, I love playing tennis and I love sport. The final part is art because I enjoy drawing and painting. And my motto is ‘Kindness’ because it is important to be kind to everybody.
Mark
There are four quadrants on my emblem. One section is the food I like. The second section is the sports I play. The third is what I like - which is drawing and the final one is reading which is also something I like to do. My family name is also on my shield.
Loving Library lessons:
Lily
I like the library because there are lots of different varieties of books to read from. I mean it has tons of books from children books to adult books. It’s really organised and is peaceful and quiet to read and work in. The books in the library help us learn skills we need to learn for life like languages or how to do things.
Lauren
Reading is important to develop our literacy skills. It can give us a stronger imagination and it would feel like you're one of the characters from the story. If English isn't your first language, reading is good for practising your vocabulary words and English. If you don’t have anyone to play with, you can find a book to read. Reading books gives us encouraging words like be brave and it always teaches us a lesson.
Aaron
I like the library because it has good facilities and a wide range of books. There are different genres of books to choose from, so everyone can have a book to read. There are a lot of couches and places to sit, making it very convenient. There is also a book suggestion box, which I enjoy since I can borrow books that I enjoy.
