At Good News Lutheran College, we believe that effective communication is at the heart of a thriving learning environment. Being a good communicator doesn’t just mean speaking clearly or writing well - it’s about truly listening, understanding diverse perspectives, and conveying ideas with confidence and respect. Our staff and students work daily to build these essential skills, which help strengthen our community and foster mutual respect.
For our students, we encourage open dialogue and active listening across all year levels. Through group activities, class presentations, and collaborative projects, our students learn the importance of both sharing their views and respecting the ideas of others. They are taught that communication is not just about speaking up but also about listening, responding thoughtfully, and building connections.
Our dedicated staff play an essential role in modelling these behaviours. Teachers at GNLC understand that communication is a two-way street; they create spaces where students feel heard and valued, promoting a classroom culture where everyone is encouraged to participate and contribute. Staff regularly engage in professional development to further enhance their communication skills and stay aligned with best practices.
This commitment to fostering strong communicators extends beyond academics. It is evident in our pastoral care programs, leadership opportunities, and community events where students and staff alike can practice and showcase their communication skills.
Together, as communicators, we are building a respectful, connected, and compassionate GNLC community.
James 1:19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.
