Year 9 Technology

In the Year 9 Design Technology class, students have been using the laser cutter to create a variety of innovative and practical items. These include boxes in which the base and the lid interlock, display boxes combining wood and acrylic, boxes with integrated hinges, and boxes with curved lids using the laser cutter to cut the wood in such a way to allow the wood to bend. The projects showcase the students’ design skills, technical skills and attention to detail.

In the Year 9 Systems Technology class, students have been using the 3D printer to design and print add-ons for the robots they have been working with. They have been given the freedom to create features that are either functional or purely aesthetic. As they begin their designs, they are learning that accuracy in measurement is a crucial part of any integrated physical system.
