Year 7 Colour Scheme Paintings
Year 8 Howard Arkley Inspired Paintings
Students in Year 8 Visual Arts have been exploring the work of Melbourne-born artist Howard Arkley, known for his distinctive Pop Art airbrush paintings that celebrate the architecture and suburban culture of Australia. Drawing inspiration from Arkley’s vibrant style, students have created unique interpretations of their own homes, capturing the essence of suburbia with a modern, artistic twist. This project allowed students to express their personal connection to their environments while experimenting with techniques that bring color and character to everyday scenes.
Year 8 Monogram Logo
Year 8 students designed a Monogram Logo based on their initials: first name and family name. The purpose of the work is:
- To understand how logos are used to inform and convey information.
- To look at developing and presenting information in a variety of ways manually or digitally
- To understand how colour can be used to create a logo’s image.
Students explored the Design Elements of Type, Shape and Colour while utilising various media or Adobe Illustrator to produce a logo for a business card or swing tag. Students learnt about the Design Process working and following a ‘brief’ which includes design limitations.
Year 10 Visual Arts - Figurative Paintings
Year 10 Visual Arts students have recently completed an acrylic painting unit centred on the human figure, drawing inspiration from Cubism and the works of Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. After studying these influential artists, students began with observational drawings in the classroom, with some even modelling for their peers. These initial sketches served as the foundation for their compositions, which they later transferred onto stretched canvases. They prepared their canvases with a warm underpainting wash and then used synthetic polymer paint to bring their Cubist-inspired pieces to life. Throughout the process, students practiced various techniques, including washes, dry brushing, and blending. The resulting artworks are unique and highly successful, showcasing each student’s creativity and growing technical skill.
