Senior School
It has been a busy few weeks for the Senior School students.
Year 12s completed all their final exams. It was fantastic to see the dedication towards study in the VCE Centre throughout the exam period. Students worked in study groups, created resources, and met with teachers to finalise their understanding and skills in preparation for their exams. There were many sighs of relief as the last exams were finished and clear joy at having completed secondary school.
We wish all our 12s good luck!
Our 2025 VCE students have successfully completed their O’Week classes.
This was an important week to begin their new studies and gain an understanding of what’s to come next year. Teachers were extremely impressed with the level of attention and participation shown by the students in all classes.
The current Year 11s have already begun to utilise the VCE Centre for study and making it their own.
Not only were there scheduled classes during O’Week, but also several workshops and presentations to help prepare students for VCE. All students attended a talk from a university lecturer, Peter Betts, about the issues surrounding AI use in education.
The Year 10s learned about how VCE operates at our school and had an introduction to the nuances of command verbs and how to properly structure answers in SACs and exams.
Year 11s learned about Study Scores and ATARs and how to get the best out of their final year at Viewbank College. They heard talks from a number VBC Alumni and students got a glimpse into what awaits them beyond secondary school.
Finally, the great egg challenge was run for the third year in a row.
Students are challenged to build a protective pocket for an egg which had to be thrown 20 metres. A Stella team took out the 2024 championship, however many students were able to throw their eggs and keep them well protected.
The Year 11s attended their final celebration assembly on Monday 2nd December. This was a fantastic opportunity to acknowledge the successes of our students in the areas of Academic Achievement, Engagement, Sport, Maths, Science, and overall House Point Champions. We are proud of all the work the Year 11s have achieved over the year, and we hope to see that continue in 2025.
We wish all our Senior School students well over the summer holidays and are looking forward to seeing you in 2025.
