Middle School Production 2024
In 2024 our very own Caitlin Brown, part of the Performing Arts team, wrote a play titled "Once Upon a Crime".
The play incorporated a plethora of literary references and characters with hilarious lines and direct parodies of some of the most famous stories from contemporary literature.
When fairy tale characters start going missing from their stories, Sherlock Holmes, Artemis, Dorothy, Elizabeth Bennett and Adam (Frankenstein’s monster) are enlisted to solve the mystery and restore order to fairy tale land.
We had over 40 students in the cast and about 40 students involved in the Art Crew, Stage Crew and Front of house. The show was Directed by our Drama Captain Victoria Trewern, assisted by Year 11 students Charlotte Crewther and Charlotte White, along with our Technical Director Kieran Holmes and our Art Director Emily Adams.
The Middle School Production is a vehicle for student empowerment and student voice being almost entirely student run. As producer my role is to facilitate, to encourage and to provide expert guidance but the show is put together and run by students. During the show run we as teachers are incredibly proud to sit back and watch as these incredible young people step up and put on a one and a half hour show on their own. If you saw the show you would know how talented the students at this school really are.
"Once Upon a Crime" was a massive success and everyone involved should be incredibly proud of their efforts. Special thanks to Ben Mogford who always provides his technical expertise and guidance to every show we do.
