Math. So much more than just numbers
This year we had around 40 Yyear 9 students study Mathology, one of the many elective subjects on offer at Viewbank College.
Students build problem solving skills and learn how to plan and think algorithmically in a project-based subject that allows time to think deeply.
There is a big emphasis on working collaboratively and using peer-to-peer feedback to drive reflectively practice and improvement.
In the final project the students take on modelling problems inspired by the Italian Physicist, Enrico Fermi.
We have selected three outstanding submissions from Rebecca Lehrmann, Emily Nelson and Bowen Yan to share with you.
Enjoy.
