NAIDOC Week 2026 at RGLPS

As we begin Term 3, we take time to reflect on the significance of NAIDOC Week, which was celebrated across Australia from 5th to the 12th of July. NAIDOC Week recognises and celebrates the rich history, cultures and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year's theme, "50 Years of Deadly," marks the 50th anniversary of NAIDOC Week and celebrates the strength, resilience, achievements and enduring contributions of First Nations peoples and communities over the past five decades.

As part of our NAIDOC Week learning, students explored this year's theme "50 Years of Deadly" and investigated significant historical events that have shaped the history and experiences of First Nations Peoples. They then researched a significant historical event, created an informative poster, and presented their learning to the class. It was wonderful to see students sharing new knowledge, learning from each other and deepening their understanding of Australia's shared history.
