From the Boarding Captains

And just like that, Darcy's and my time as your Boarding Captains has come to an end, and my five years in the boarding community is closing in the next few weeks. I would first like to extend great congratulations to Brianna Cunningham and Steven Wiech for achieving the Boarding Captain positions for 2024, we know you will do exceptionally well. Similarly, congratulations to Michael Watson, Tiffany Butterworth and Lily Quick on their appointments as prefects too. I hope you all enjoy this opportunity as much as I have. It's safe to say that the boarding community is in safe hands next year with such strong leadership qualities in so many individuals.

In the next couple of weeks, although mock exams and final marks may be stressful, I encourage the Year Twelves to enjoy these last moments and make the most of the friendships we have formed before we part our separate ways. Similarly, I wish nothing but the best for our students as they wrap up the end of the year and progress in their journey in boarding.

Finally, the Darcy Effect project is well under way with over 20 bags packed and ready to be delivered across rural WA. I have thoroughly enjoyed supporting this cause and we greatly appreciate the support of the community in the form of donations and volunteering to deliver the hospital bags these holidays. Thanks for such an amazing year.

From starting the year thinking here we go again with a whole another school year except this one was different. This year was only three very short terms and have flown by very quickly. I cannot believe that my 14 years of schooling are over.

The last few weeks of boarding and school have entailed the Kingfisher Fair which was a great success and great to see so many old and new faces around the school for the day. Lots of school tests have been happening along with a lot of assignments being due.

Especially in Year Twelve, the last week of term has been Mock ATAR exams with all students studying hard at their ATAR subjects both at school and in boarding when they get lucky enough to get a day off exams.

The Darcy Effect has been a successful program with Ava and I filling a total of 25 bags with lots of different useful things in them such as toilets, reading books, colouring in books, toys, and anything in between. These will be delivered by some boarding families and Mr Keatch to many different rural health centres.

Over my journey here at grammar I would just like to thank everyone that has helped me along the way whether they were a Head of House, a Supervisor, or a fellow student, without any of you, I wouldn’t have been able to make it this far. Thank you to Mr Keatch and Ava for all your hard work across this year while I have had the role of Boarding Captain. I believe that Steven Wiech and Brianna Cunningham are very good and respectful recipients of this role for next term and next year, and I wish them all the very best. I wish everyone an enjoyable rest of the year and I hope to come back and catch up with you all in the future.
