Mind Body and Us


Mind, Body and Us this term looks a little bit different as the students will be exploring a new unit ‘Healthy Body’. We are excited to see how the students transfer this learning into their everyday lives.  

 

Prep – Year 2 

 This term, the Prep, Year One and Year Two students will be exploring ‘Healthy Bodies’ and the importance of respecting, maintaining and creating a healthy body. They will investigate the important features of the body such as vital organs, skeletal features and muscles. Students will learn how to support a healthy body through lifestyle choices such as sleep, exercise, mindfulness and hygiene. Furthermore, revisiting the importance of healthy food choices by making connections to our Term Three unit. To complement this unit the students will be continuing to deepen the connection between physical activity and a balanced lifestyle with the continuation of the Play is the Way program. This will help engage the students in games that support their emotional and social wellbeing as well as their physical health.

Years 3 – 6 

 This term in Mind, Body and Us the students from Years Three to Six will be inquiring into what it means to have a ‘Healthy Body’. Within this topic the students will be looking into what our body needs to be healthy, for example, water, sleep and exercise. Students will also have the opportunity to connect what they have learnt to how they feel physically and mentally. To compliment this unit the students will be exploring the connection between being physically active and a balanced lifestyle through continuing to utilise the Play is the Way program to help engage the students in physical activities that support their emotional and social wellbeing as well as their physical health.

How can you support your child’s Mind, Body and Us learning at home? 

 

In order to support the Mind, Body and Us program, families can: 

 

  • Have conversations about healthy bodies
  • Encourage children to go outside and play physical activities
  • Switch off devices during mealtimes to engage in conversations.   
  • Embedding wellbeing strategies such as mindful colouring, Yoga and gratitude journalling, at home, will enable students to transfer their understanding from school into healthy habits for life.
