Highlights on Heights Campus
Last week we had a “Shelter In Place” practice drill. I was very impressed with how calmly the students walked in their safety line to the 3-6 building which is where we all gathered. We practise lockdown and evacuation drills, so the students and staff all know what to do and what routines to follow in case of a real emergency.
The September holidays would be a great time for families to chat about how to evacuate from your home and where a good meeting point would be if there was an emergency at your house. The emergency number to call is:
Following on from the Book Parade, the students and parents have been looking at the amazing photos on display. There was a competition for students and parents to answer some questions from each display of photos! Thank you to everyone who entered…. The three winners who answered all the questions correctly and were drawn from the box were:
Selena - 3/4B, Nimrat - 1/2A, Romaiswoa - FB.
They each received a prize from a lucky dip box.
LOTE and MLC Kitchen Garden Cooking: Ms Pham and the students have had a lovely week of cooking in Vietnamese classes. They have been making Pandan Waffles - Bánh Kẹp Lá Dứa. The students said they were very delicious and the smell was amazing
The MLC Kitchen program has also been a huge success in Term 3. Students have been learning new skills in the kitchen, but they have also been learning about how to wash the dishes, set the table and eat respectfully together. From the empty plate I think the Vegetable Chili Con Carne was a winner. I was lucky to try a blueberry muffin and it was very yummy!
Just another reminder that ALL students will need their hat after the holidays. School hats are available at the office for $10.00. If a student doesn’t have a hat they will be asked to sit in the shade at recess and lunch.
Thank you to all our families who have enrolled a child in Foundation for next year…. If you do have a child, family friend or neighbor who will be starting school in 2024, please tell them to contact the office for a tour – 9546 3799 or suggest they come into the office for an enrolment pack!
I look forward to seeing everyone back at school on Monday 2nd October.
