UPDATE : Junior School Council meeting
Today, our Junior School Council met to synthesise the initial list of ideas from 77 to a more manageable number. The JSC worked in groups to go through the list and come up with a shortlist of their preferred items to spend fundraising money on.

The groups then added their 10 preferences together so now we have a somewhat smaller list to consider. Below is the combined list with the number of preferences given to each in brackets next to each idea.
Mrs Wright and I were so proud of the way the students listened to each other and shared their ideas.
In the realm of life, where verdure thrives,
A place of vegetation, where plants and animals contrive.
The skies embrace the earth, a new fate arrives,
Nature’s generosity vigorously brings back the earth revived.
The sun, a radiant orb of light, vibrant and vivid,
Brings confidence and growth but cannot become rigid.
It's warm embrace, a gentle caress on the skin,
Igniting happiness, a new day to begin.
But as day succumbs to the moon’s cradle,
A transformation cuts the day short, like cutting the cable.
The stars arise, like displayed jewellery,
As night unveils its true beauty.
So let us celebrate nature’s gifts,
For in its reward, we find our bliss.
Between life and death, we will still thrive,
By being blessed, with nature’s drive.

This term, Year 1 students have been learning about their local community and how people visit places and participate in activities within their communities.
Each class has created their very own amazing Tiny Town.

Students planned and designed a building or a landmark for their class Tiny Town.
Well done to everyone and it looks like we have lots of future budding architects and engineers.
Year 2 Australia map projects
This term, year 2 students have been learning about Australia in relation to where it is in the world, the surrounding oceans, state and territories, capital cities, special landmarks and indigenous places. Students worked in pairs and small groups to create their Australian map projects.

It was wonderful to see them working collaboratively to research and create the maps. The teachers are very proud of the amazing work they have produced.
Foundation Ambulance Visit
On Friday, the Foundation students were very excited to have a visit from Alicia Doreian, John’s mum from FS. Alicia is a Paramedic and was kind enough to bring in the ambulance so students could see inside. Foundation students learnt about what an ECG shows, how the electric stretchers work, what equipment and medicine is carried in the ambulance, and even got to hear the siren! Thanks again to Alicia for your time spent with us – Foundation students LOVED the stickers and activity books too.

In Foundation this term students have been learning about what farm and domestic animals need and want. We learnt that all animals need shelter, water, food, oxygen, and sunlight to survive. These learnings were cemented when we visited Bundoora Park farm and saw animals in their real environments. To continue this learning every student has created a diorama with an environment that has at least 3 needs and wants for their animal.

We started by making an animal from air dry clay which we painted and decorated. We were lucky to see so many different animals created: Alpacas, rabbits, guinea pigs, snakes, puppies, donkeys, turtles and fish just to name a few!

Hugo's dad in FS put this together while the grade was working on their class mosaic art piece.
Year 5 have been busy preparing posters for their class stall at the fair! We are getting very excited! 5L also excitedly watched the launch of the ‘169 Storey Treehouse’ - online from the State library with Andy Griffiths. Many in the class have read every book from the series!
