Welcome back to Term 4! We are already working hard on new units, practising production dances and enjoying the su.. rain!

A reminder that Term 4 is a Sun Smart term, and therefore students need to be wearing a school hat at recess and lunch time. Please help your child remember to pack it in their bag each morning.

Year 3

Grade 3 - Edendale Community Farm Excursion

On Wednesday 8th November, Grade 3 students will be attending an excursion to Edendale Community Environment Farm. At the farm, students will be participating in small workshops to learn more about recycling, waste management and composting as well as completing a farm tour! This will be a great link to the things we will be learning about in the classroom over the next few weeks, and also a great way to see many of the things we speak about in a real life environment.

Students will need to bring their hats with them, and pack a water bottle and lunch box in a small bag or back pack. Weather appropriate clothing is encouraged - hopefully we have a lovely day and no rain!

We also ask that all students arrive at school no later than 8.45am. We will still meet in classrooms before we walk over to the bus!

Permission for the excursion is now open on QKR, and costs $30. Please ensure that you have paid by 30th October.

Production

All Grade 3 classes have been working hard this fortnight to learn their songs and dances for the What A Knight production on Tuesday 31st October (Grade 3 night). Students have been humming the songs in the corridors, practising their dance moves at recess and the excitement is continuing to grow as we get closer!

You should have received a handout from your child at the end of Term 3 that explained the costumes that will be required for each grade, and this also would have been emailed sometime home again this week. If you're still missing this information, please let your child's teacher know and they can pass it onto you.

Please keep an eye on notices coming home, Sentral notifications, emails and the Newsletter over the next two weeks as more information regarding the production comes out.

Year 4 Excursion - Melbourne Aquarium

As part of their Term 4 ‘Great Barrier Reef’ Inquiry Unit, Year 4 students will participate in an excursion to Melbourne Sealife Aquarium on Friday, 10th of November. The excursion will include a guided tour focusing on sustainable practices that support the ongoing conservation of the reef.

We ask that students arrive at school and walk into their classrooms at 8.40am on the day of the excursion. Buses will collect all staff and students at 9am and return to school at approximately 3pm. Students need to bring a packed snack, lunch, water bottle and hat.

The cost of this excursion is $31 per student and includes the Aquarium visit, guided tour and bus transport.

All payments for this excursion must be made via Qkr! and submitted by no later than Thursday, 2nd November, 2023.

Production

Year 4 students have been working hard at rehearsing their songs and dances for the upcoming school production 'What a Knight'. It has been great to see how excited so many of the students are about this huge event. The Year 4 night of the production is Wednesday, 1st of November.

Towards the end of Term 3, all students should have brought home a handout with important information about costumes that will be required. Please let your child's teacher know if you need a new copy of this information.

Requests for 2024 classes

As we are moving closer to the end of 2023, we are turning our sights on preparations for 2024. Each year, parents are given the opportunity to make a request for consideration in regard to their child's placement. Please note, this is a request only, and must relate to the social and emotional wellbeing of your child. It is not an opportunity to request a specific teacher. All teachers cater for the academic needs of each child, and we have the utmost confidence that all the staff here at Vermont Primary School will provide quality teaching and learning opportunities. Enormous time and effort goes into the placement of students, and our teachers know their students well enough to make the best choice for them in terms of their grade placement for the coming year.

If you would like to submit a request for consideration, please do so to the year level leader of your child's current year level no later than October 13th.
