Yard Work

Over the term break we had a large amount of Tanbark delivered to top up the play ground.  We also had the team from Arcadia Landscapes back in to relay some decking boards in our mud kitchen which had warped a little.  They are looking fabulous again and have some bituman painted underneath them to help protect them from the weather.   We have also re-established our watering system in some areas and removed it others where our children have become keen gardeners and love watering the plants for us, and therefore we do not need the inground system anymore!  We love making sure our yard is inviting and safe for the children play!

Sunsmart reminder

Now that we are coming into some warmer weather (well we were, and then it disappeared again, but I am sure it will be back - we do live in Melbourne!), it is time to start wearing hats again and putting on our Sunscreen.  There are bottles of sunscreen in the foyer for children to use as they arrive in the morning.  It is easier if the children can have it on prior to starting the day, as this ensures enough time for the sunscreen to soak into the skin before going outside to play and also less time while the teachers support the children to put in on in the room.  We we re apply sunscreen later in the day if we go out again in the afternoon.

Transition Statements

Transition Learning and Development Statements (Transition Statements) will be completed by the 4 YO teachers for all children attending school next year.

The Transition Statement has been designed to enable useful information about a child’s learning and wellbeing to be shared between families, early childhood services, schools and – if you are planning to send your child to an Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) service – OSHC services too. This Transition Statement will summarise your child’s interests, skills and abilities, including specific ideas and strategies that support your child to learn best, so that your child’s future school can help them settle in successfully. The Transition Statement has a number of sections. Some sections are written by your child’s Teacher, and some sections are for you and your child to complete. The completed Transition Statement will be forwarded to schools in November.

The teachers have begun writing the Statements and will be sending to families a link via email to the relevant sections for you to complete.  All Transition Statements are proof read before they are sent out to schools.  Once the whole document is completed a copy will be sent to your child's school and to you.

2024 Information Night

Our Information Night for families attending in 2024 will be held on Wednesday 8th November at 6.30pm at the Kindergarten.

This is a great night to meet your child's teacher, ask any questions you might have and sign up for an interview time for early next year.

More information will be sent out via email soon.

Foundation Transition Sessions

The 4 YO children who are attending Vermont PS in 2024 will begin their transition sessions this week.  Those children in Waratah that attend the kinder these days can still access kinder.  Please send an email to Jacqui.Zourkas@education.vic.gov.au if you would like the kinder team to pick your child up at the school after their transition session and bring them back to kinder for the remainder of the day.

Friendology Parent Session

Coming up is a fantastic opportunity for parents to learn more about the Friendology Program.  This program is being implemented right across the school, as well as the kinder.  We have been accessing the resources and adapting them for our children.  This will mean we are using the same language as the school and for those transitioning into Vermont Primary, they will already have some understanding and a good foundation for developing strong friendships and resilience.  Head over to the Principals report to find out more.

The online Parent Session is being held on Tuesday 17th of October at 6:30pm! We recommend attending to learn more about the program.
