From The Principals

Important updates from Mrs Mann, Mrs Cook & Mrs Strachan

Welcome back to school, and to the final term of 2023! We are excited to see what this term brings, and know that it is bound to be another busy one! With our school production just around the corner, we remind families to please ensure you are staying up to date with information in the newsletter or coming through via Sentral.

Production

In the last newsletter we had some reminders about our upcoming school production. You will have seen that the link for the tickets has now gone live, and we are so pleased to see so many families jumping on to purchase tickets for this spectacular event already! Please support the students performing by coming along and providing them with an enthusiastic audience. If rehearsals are anything to go by, it is going to be a phenomenal show! Remember to purchase your tickets through TryBooking here - https://www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1122146

Friendology parent session

Another great event that we are proud to provide to parents is the Friendology parent session. This program has been used in classrooms this year with all classes from Foundation to Grade 6. Even our Kindergarten teachers have been accessing some of the amazing resources! This program empowers children to learn practical ways to improve, strengthen and maintain friendships, and to navigate conflict when it occurs. This session, which is available to all Vermont Primary School and Kindergarten families free of charge, explores the pillars of the program, while giving parents and carers practical advice for helping your children build healthier friendships. More information about the program can be found here https://urstrong.com/parents/  . Click on the link in the image to secure your ticket to the online session on Tuesday 17th of October at 6:30pm! (if the link doesn't work for you, try here https://urstrong.com/event/language-of-friendship-for-urstrong-schools-2/ )

Reminder: Requests for 2024 classes

As stated in our last newsletter, we are now beginning to focus on preparations for 2024. Each year, parents are given the opportunity to make a request for consideration in regard to their child's placement. Please note, this is a request only, and must relate to the social and emotional wellbeing of your child. It is not an opportunity to request a specific teacher.

If you would like to submit a request for consideration, please do so to the year level leader of your child's current year level no later than October 13th. Further details can be found in the last newsletter.

Foundation Transition

This week is an exciting time for our school as it is the first transition morning for the 2024 Foundation students. Today there were many excited students and parents at the school. If you are still waiting to enrol for 2024, we remind you to please speak to the office as soon as possible.

Go Fund me page

Sadly, over the last school holidays, a member of our school community passed away. Adrienne Daly, mother to Henry who is in Year 6 passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Our thoughts are with Henry and his family at this very difficult time.

A member of the community has set up a Go Fund me page to support the Daly family. If you would like more information on this, please visit Fundraiser by Ebony Tucker : Remembering Adrienne Daly (gofundme.com)

Table Tennis success

Last term we commenced private table tennis coaching sessions being run after school on a Thursday. This was a highly successful program being run exclusively for Vermont Primary School students by a private coach. At the end of the term, students participated in a competion, with some very excited students taking home some medals! Congratulations to all the students involved.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!
