TIPS FOR DADS AND FATHER FIGURES

(From The Fathering Project)

Growing up can be tough on kids, especially when they start to notice changes in their body.  We’ve all been there - but the big difference with kids today, is the constant comparisons everywhere on social media. It's natural for them to feel self-conscious about how they look, but you play a big part in empowering them to make them feel confident and secure. Remember your dad duties - keep an eye on what they might be seeing online, and remind them that everyone's different and that's what makes them unique!

Top Tips

1. Remind your child to look beyond appearances and appreciate their unique qualities, like their personality, talents, and interests.

2. Help them develop realistic expectations about their body image by discussing together the unhealthy and unrealistic standards promoted by celebrities and social media influencers.

3. Show support as your child experiments with new styles and looks, as this is a way for them to explore their identity and self-expression.
