Nunawading District Athletics Carnival 2023

Last Monday 70 students represented Vermont Primary at District Athletics.  There were 7 schools competing against us.  We all had so much fun.  It was a lovely day to compete as it was very sunny.  Vermont came 2nd against the other schools which was a great achievement.  A number of students qualified to go to Division next Wednesday.  They're very excited and can't wait to compete again.  Thank you to the following teachers who supported us on the day; Mr Straughan, Mrs Dyett, Miss Strachan and Mr Walsh.  Overall we had an amazing time and good luck to the students competing next week.

Digi Tech - Year 5

last term, the Year 5 students used Purple Mash to investigate databases. They explored existing databases and wrote simple and complex questions based on a pre-prepared database on aliens. For example:

How many aliens come from Saturn?

Which aliens have 2 eyes and are blue?

Students were then given the option to add to an existing database or create their own one about an area of interest. They had to create fields (a field contains information relating to one aspect or attribute of the record) and then records (a collection of data about one item entered into a database).

The Year 5 students then enjoyed creating questions which they emailed to their friends to be answered using their database.
