Showcase

We are very excited to present Showcase 2023 to our EHPS community, a celebration of music making for all students. 

 

This year’s Showcase will be held at 6pm on Friday 27 October at Robert Blackwood Hall at Monash University, Clayton Campus. The concert is expected to finish at about 8.30pm.

 

At our annual Showcase music concert, there will be performances from year level choirs featuring every student, Contemporary Band, Marimba ensembles, Guitar ensembles, other Bands, and Strings ensembles. The whole school choir will perform 'Fill the World with Song' (refer to the Music page in this newsletter for details and a YouTube link), before ending with our School Song, 'Essex Heights Rock'.

Tickets for Showcase 2023 went on sale on 4 October. The ticket booking link was provided to you in the Showcase bulletin attached to the Compass message, and published below for your information. To allow every family the opportunity to attend, we would encourage families to only purchase two tickets per family. 

At the time of writing tickets are almost sold out, so don't delay if you haven't got your ticket yet. 

If you have tickets you no longer need, please contact the School Office. 

Contact the School Office to go on a waitlist if tickets are sold out in the event of tickets being returned. 

Classes start at 11.30am on Friday 27 October

To ensure that Showcase remains a successful whole school community event and provides enjoyment of music for all, classes will begin at 11.30am. 

Therefore, parents can choose to let their child have a sleep-in or a quiet morning to compensate for the 8.30pm finish of the night. We encourage children to arrive at school no earlier than 11.15am ready to commence classes at 11.30am. 

If you are unable to bring your child to school to start classes at 11.30am, children will be supervised from 9am. The OSHC program will run from 7am until 9am. 

Please respond to the Showcase Sleep-in Late Arrival event notice to let us know about your child on Showcase morning:

  • ACCEPT if your child will arrive at school from 11.15am ready for classes to commence at 11.30am; or 
  • DECLINE if your child will arrive at school at 8.50am and will be supervised until classes commence at 11.30am. 

 

Showcase arrangements 

  • Students should have something to eat at home before the concert.
  • Wear full school uniform, with black shoes preferred.
  • Bring a clearly named water bottle. Instrumental students bring their instrument/drum sticks and music.
  • Arrive at Robert Blackwood Hall, Monash University, Clayton Campus between 5pm and 5.15pm.
  • Sign in at class table and be handed over to EHPS staff.
  • Instrumental students find a Student Helper in an orange vest who will assist with direction backstage for storage of the instrument.
  • A free program will be available in the foyer of Robert Blackwood Hall.
  • Showcase will begin at 6pm. 
  • If you are unable to stay until the concert finishes (expected to be about 8.30pm), parents are to go to the foyer and find an EHPS staff member to collect their child. NO parents backstage at any time.
  • Instructions will be announced at the end of the concert regarding collecting your child. You must sign out your child at class table with EHPS staff before leaving. 
  • The concert will be professionally recorded and a DVD or USB of the concert will be available to purchase. We will advise on Compass when orders can be placed.
