Principal's News

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week we look forward to welcoming the “Stomp” Dance company to our school. “Stomp” are an innovative, fun and energetic performing arts group who will be working alongside our children and teachers over the next 4 weeks beginning Thursday.

Our workshops with  Stomp will culminate in a whole school performance for parents during the afternoon of Friday November 10th. This performance will be held in the Jubilee Centre at Trinity College.

CHILDREN’S MENTAL HEALTH Given recent world events it is important for parents to renew their vigilance about their children’s engagement with the TV news and all forms of social media.

It is my understanding that some tragically graphic images etc are being circulated via TikTok and other platforms that children may access.

We pray for understanding and peace in our world.

ALL SAINTS DAY AND MISSION DAY Our school is looking forward to celebrating All Saints Day and enjoying our Mission Day Fete on THURSDAY November 2nd.

This is an important day in the life of our school, where we celebrate Mass and reflect on and pray for those members of our families and community who are no longer with us and then focus on raising money via our fete for those less fortunate than ourselves.

FOUNDATION 2024 BARBECUE Families who have someone enrolled to begin Foundation in 2024 are invited to our Family Barbecue on Thursday, November 16th. We will be conducting a brief Information Session at 6:00pm in the Multi Purpose Room to be followed immediately by a delicious BBQ tea and salads prepared by our staff. Families are invited to bring their own refreshments along.  This is always a fun night and a relaxed and friendly introduction to our school to new families and a good social gathering for the rest of us.

SCHOOL CLOSURES

Our school will be closed on Monday, November 6th for teachers to prepare the children’s reports and again on Tuesday November 7th as it is the Public Holiday for the Melbourne Cup.

CHILD SAFETY

A reminder that all helpers for the Foundation Swimming Program being run this term need to present a current “Working With Children” card to the school office in order to assist with this program. The program cannot run without the assistance of parents so, if you don’t have a check, please go online and get one and bring it into the school office.

NATIONAL ASSESSMENT PROGRAM

This year, during October, the National Assessment Program is conducting a test for Civics and Citizenship in a sample of schools.

This online test aims to inform schools, education ministers and the community about the levels of achievement in civics and citizenship literacy among a sample of Year 6 and Year 10 students across Australia, with the aim of improving teaching and learning.

Mrs Garner’s Year 6 class have been selected to participate in this trial test that will cover knowledge and understanding of Australia’s system of government and civic life.
