Sports Report

On Tuesday the 24th of October – Our senior boys competed in the Regional Softball tournaments to battle out for a placing to go to State championships. Unfortunately, we did not win the tournament, but we obtained 3rd placing for Northern Region of Victoria which by far is an outstanding achievement for our beautiful little country school in Macedon. The Macedon Ranges Softball team were by far the most joyous and caring team we have ever had compete at that high level of competition. We entered this championship stage as underdogs, so it was quite apt that we were coined the ‘Jamaican Bobsled Team’ from Cool Runnings. A fine epitaph to use to describe the enthusiasm, commitment, and absolute candour our boys held while down at Geelong Stead Park Softball pitches. I would personally like to thank the families for safely commuting the boys to the stadium and supporting Mr B and the team in running our event. Our first game played against Newport Gardens where we won but then the next two games against St Albans Meadows and Strathmore North Primary, we lost but not by much so it goes to show that with dedication and determination and a positive outlook and attitude we can all win even when you lose. There were incredible moments with Tom G sliding into home base as the crowd erupted in cheers and baited breaths, the fielding between Flynn, Max P and Jackson was outstanding, the runs to home base by Levi, Lukas and Spencer were fast and the bases held by Harrison Tom and Max M showed teamwork and great communication. There were massive hits from Lachlan, Max P, Atticus and Hunter and all this was supported by our mascot and team spirit leader Hamish C. A great team lead by Flynn L as our captain. Well done to all these boys.

I would personally like to say that the boys showcased the Macedon Primary values so well and were respected by the other schools and Umpires – lets go get them in 2024!

In other sporting news, well done to Zoey H and Connor L for making it into the Regional Athletics in Geelong last week. Both performed well and represented Macedon Primary with pride. Pictured below is Connor with his "Regionals" hoodie.
