From The Principal

Marion Coady

We have started the term with some new staff. They include:

  • Mr Jan Botha teaching Design & Technology
  • Mr Jerry Elder teaching HASS
  • Ms Shailen Ellis working in Learning Support

At the end of term 3 we farewelled Ms Catharine Watson and Mr Merv Neighbour. We thank them for their work with our school in 2023.

Term 4 marks the drawing together of the 2023 academic school year. Students have an opportunity to continue to build their learning as they work towards finalising their learning programs.

We have been notified that year 12 SACE results will be released on Monday 18 December. Staff will be at school to field any questions or concerns that our year 12 students have following the release of their results.

Planning is well underway for the 2024 school year with work continuing on the development of the year 7 to 12 timetable following student subject choices. Later this term our student subjects will be confirmed with parents/caregivers. The allocation of teachers to classes will commence shortly as we finalise our teaching staff for 2024.

A number of significant events will occur throughout the term as cohorts of students finish their programs. On 31 October a whole school assembly was held to farewell our year 12 students who will move to finishing their assessment tasks including examinations. We wish the year 12's all the best in finishing their assessments. The year 11 students will undertake a program to commence their year 12 studies from 27 November to 1 December. Year 7, 8 and 9 students will complete their programs on 13 December followed by two days of curriculum based activities.

Our year 8, 9 and senior school debating team students will attend a reception at Government House on 2 November as they were all in the State finals. The year 9 and senior school teams were state winners and the year 8 team runners-up. More details about the three debating teams are in this newsletter.

It was a pleasure to witness the capabilities of our students to prepare for their debates and quickly pivot with rebuttals in the debates themselves.

The year 12 Graduation will occur on 28 November at the Adelaide Town Hall when we get the opportunity to acknowledge and applaud a wide range of their accomplishments.
