Year 4 Report
Term 4 2023
Congratulations to the Year 4 cohort for all of their achievements this year. We are incredibly proud of the hard work and effort students have put towards their learning this year. We wish you all the best for Grade 5!
Literacy
During Term 4 in Literacy, explored the structure and language features of biographies. They were exposed to a range of biographies about many people from all over the world, that include orientation, chronological order of life events, family background, education, career, and achievements. Students had many opportunities to write their own biographies.
We loved seeing students using the 'Bump It Up' wall to self-assess and to build their skills in grammar and punctuation, spelling, ideas, language and revising.
Students worked hard in Reading to build their comprehension strategies of inferring, synthesising and critiquing.
Numeracy
During Term 4 in Numeracy, students explored a range of different focus areas including fractions, angles, mapping, and data. We had many meaningful, hands-on activities that allowed students to develop their skills.
Excursions and more!
We had so much fun at the Melbourne Museum. Students were able to develop their knowledge about dinosaurs and more during this great hands-on experience.
We also had a great time developing our physical health and wellbeing by participating in many team games and a few obstacle courses!
Thank you to Alaa and all of the ladies at The Hub for inviting students to try some of their cooking! The food was delicious - the students emptied their plates!
Inquiry
During Term 4 in Inquiry, students explored Australia and its neighbouring countries. Students were exposed to the characteristics and environment of these countries and used their researching skills to locate each country on a map, ask questions and create information reports. Students did a great job at presenting their findings to their classmates.
Social and Emotional Learning
In SEL this term, students investigated how emotional responses vary and understand how to interact positively with their peers in different situations including in physical activities. Students explored a range of strategies for working cooperatively. Students made great growth in their ability to be a respectful and accepting member of the classroom and community.
