Sport & PE

Swimming Program

Swimming lessons are scheduled for the 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 27th and 28th of November, between 10:30 and 3:00.  Students will walk over to the pool in class groups for their 30 or 35 minute swimming lessons.  Students need to pack a rashie, bathers, goggles, a towel, sunscreen and some easy to slip on and off shoes.  Please ensure all items are labelled.  Popping all of this into a plastic bag will mean that students can easily bring their wet things home.

The dates and times are weather and water-temperature dependent.  Any changes will be communicated as early as possible via COMPASS.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE GIVEN CONSENT VIA COMPASS.

Any further questions please call Joy or Amanda in the office.

Note from EDGE Aquatics Baranduda

Our school has been sent information about a swiming program avalible to families who have met the criteria for CSEF. Please see details below if this is something you are interested in applying for.

Swimming and water safety education is part of the F-10 Victorian Curriculum Health and Physical Education. School Swimming Outside of School Hours Vouchers are being provided to current primary school students in schools that have had challenges in scheduling their swimming lessons over the past few years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and swim teacher shortages to ensure they have the knowledge and confidence to participate in aquatic activities.

The vouchers are for current primary school students who missed out on participating in school swimming and water safety programs due to the challenges in scheduling school swimming and water safety programs between 2020 and 2022 to help build their skills and knowledge to achieve the Victorian Water Safety Certificate (VWSC) and meet the Victorian Curriculum requirements.

EDGE Aquatics Baranduda will be holding an intensive swimming program during the summer holidays to accommodate for students to utilise these vouchers.

Dates for the program are as follows:

Week 1 Monday 8th January-Friday 12th January.

Week 2 Monday 15th- Friday 19th January.

Bookings will entail 5 x half hour lessons at a cost of $20 per lesson, $100 for a week booking.

Students will be assessed for the Victorian Water Safety Certificate. The VWSC sets out the swimming and water safety skills and knowledge that every Victorian student should have by the end of primary school. Swimming and water safety programs provided through this program should enable students to achieve their VWSC, which is how the Victorian Curriculum requirement is met. Once a student is assessed and achieve the competencies of the VWSC, EDGE will enter their details on the Life Saving Victoria

VWSC dashboard so that a certificate can be issued.
