CNPS 150TH BIRTHDAY AND TRIVIA PARTY 2023

It was a sizzling hot evening, and the atmosphere was electric. The hall looked beautiful: white tables with red carnations; red balloons 1 5 0 shining above; unusually accessorised yet familiar faces chatting and being snapped in the photo booth.

The costumes were impressive. 1990s Grunge Lords met with 1980s Let’s Get Physical fluoro leotards and leg warmers. Tennis players hit it off with Studio 54 disco celebrities. 1960s mods and beatniks did The Watusi with 1950s nerds, greasers and Pink Ladies. Sequinned 1920s flappers and dapper gangsters consorted with partygoers wearing the timeless ensemble of double denim. And we were honoured to have Lady Bracknell from the 1890s in attendance and astounded by her splits dance moves!

MC Dame Catherine kept the show on the road. Quizmaster Dave kept his cool under his 1970s afro, despite the air temperature and quiz competition being white hot!  We listened to speeches, cut a very large cake and sang happy birthday.

The dancefloor was well attended with all the different eras intermingling and showing off their moves. Thanks to DJ Bert, the energy stayed high, and the brows stayed sweaty. Whose idea was it to use paper plates as fans for cooling us down? Were we at a Rave? A Blue Light Disco? Who knows but it was fabulous!

Thank you to everyone who helped to make this fundraising event such a success.
