CURRICULUM FOCUS
We are learning to make predictions.
VOCABULARY
Predictions: A prediction is when you use your schema to suggest a likely future outcome. We do this by using our schema, which is to use experiences and what we already know to make sense of the text we are reading.
ACTIVITIES YOU CAN DO AT HOME TO SUPPORT YOUR CHILD'S LEARNING
In your reading journal, create a prediction chart. Make one prediction per chapter for before, during and after. After each chapter, reflect on what actually happened and record your findings in the prediction chart.
Chapter | Before | During | After |
1 | |||
What actually happened: | |||
2 | |||

Remember: A good prediction doesn’t always come true. If at the time you make your prediction, it makes sense, then that is a good prediction.
