School Captain Update

Introduction

Hello parents and guardians of the students in Clifton Hill Primary School. We are two of the four 2024’s captains - Indigo and Max. We’re proud to be some of the leaders of CHPS, and have been working on a couple projects this term, including presenting fortnightly school assemblies, hosting JSC meetings, and working on the Stand Up project. We are excited to help this incredible school in every way we can, and build on the already amazing aspects of our community.

School Captain Responsibilities

Being the school captains, we have a lot of responsibilities, so we can play our part in making our school a better place for everyone. Lately the four of us have been hosting JSC (Junior School Council) meetings, delivering news to younger classes, hosting assemblies, and working on the SUP program, being SUP (Stand Up Project) leaders. We contribute as much as we can to improve CHPS, and look forward to however we’ll help in the future, and achieve our future goals. 

Long term goals JSC

If you aren’t in year six and still want to be a leader of the school, you can become a JSC. These are the Junior School Council Representatives and they are kind of like being a grade or class captain. They collect suggestions for big and small matters, everything from ridding the school of plastic, to repainting the downball courts. Not only do they provide their own suggestions, but they bring boxes full of suggestions from people in their class. This is a way of promoting student voice all throughout our school. They have big plans and big decisions to make such as helping the sports trolley’s equipment return to where it belongs, touching up the paint on the down ball and basketball courts and many other amazing ideas.

Don’t worry, this isn’t the last you’ll read from us! The school leadership team have plans for future newsletters articles, including information about upcoming events, other captains’ (Science captain, Art captain, Language captains etc) reports, what our values mean, Word of the Week with Mackenzie our Literacy captain, reports on the latest news, and clubs - e.g chess club, green team, choir, rockband, art club etc - but for now, have a nice week and we look forward to writing for you next time.
