CHPS Food Waste Update

Using the money raised on Clean up Australia Day, the school has made a donation to Bush Heritage Australia (this excellent organisation was selected by our Year 6 Environment Captain Willow). The remainder of the money has been used to purchase a worm farm for the junior school.

At CHPS we now have 4 solutions for food waste:

1/ A Green Cone at the Organ Factory (accepts all food scraps)

2/ The Green Cone from the main building is being closed to break down over the   winter. It will then be moved to the senior building to take food scraps from our Year 5 & 6s.

3/ (As of the 1st of July) a City of Yarra FOGO bin  will take all food scraps, and green waste. This will live in the canteen, where it will mostly be used by the canteen and Team Kids.

4/ A new worm farm which will take small amounts of food (no citrus, onion, meat, chilli, oil or dairy). We ask that students do not to disturb the worms, or play with them. The worms will be very happy, however,  to star in educational sessions.
