CET Careers Expo Visit 

Today, all Years 9 and 10 students attended the Southern Catholic Education Careers Expo to enlighten them about post-graduation opportunities. While many of our students remain unsure about future careers, this experience informed them about the numerous pathways that they can pursue. There were many stalls including fields such as accounting, childcare, nursing, apprenticeships and university pathways. Many of our students also took part in interactive activities to present an overview of various trade and apprenticeship possibilities including paramedic work and construction. Our students visited many stalls and engaged with the helpful and considerate stall managers, to understand more about potential fields. 

Thank you to Mrs Dennis, our Pathways coordinator, the teachers who gave up their time to attend this excursion, and Catholic Education for hosting this event.

GYC Enrolment Packs 

Information packs have arrived at the College and every Year 10 student has been provided with a 2025 Subject Handbook. Combined with Year 10 Pathways lessons, accessing the TASC website and referring to this handbook, students are preparing to streamline subject choices and finalise what they will study in Year 11 next year.

Dates to Remember

Senior Secondary Courses Expo - Tuesday 4 June : 11.00am - 12.15pm

The Expo at the Glenorchy Campus is an interactive event providing students with detailed information on the range of courses and pathways available at GYC. Students will have the opportunity to speak with teachers about courses and their career pathway plans. Representatives from a range of careers and tertiary education providers will be present. 

Family Information Evening - Tuesday 4 June : 5.30pm - 7.00pm

Don Bosco Theatre, Glenorchy Campus.

Presentation, information session, expo and opportunity for parents to speak with staff members and explore the wide range of subject offerings.

Guilford Young College Arts and VET Festival - 12 June : 4.30pm - 6.30pm

Arts Precinct, Glenorchy Campus.

The night will showcase the various courses on offer in the Vocational Education and Training, and Arts learning areas at GYC. You can expect to see a showcase of engineering and construction projects, experience friendly hospitality from our VET students with complimentary food and refreshments. 

Tours of our almost completed Trade Training Centre will be available; Drama and Music performances, an Art exhibition, pottery demonstration and short film screening.

Student Course Counselling - Friday 21 June : 9.00am - 11.30am

Every Year 10 student will attend GYC during College hours to assist with initial course (subject) counselling. 

St Aloysius College, Huntingfield College Information Session - Tuesday 28 May : 5.00pm - 8.00pm

Year 10 students who may be considering attending College at St Aloysius can attend the Year 11-12 Course Information Evening at St Aloysius - Senior campus.
