Primary News

Melanie Sluyters

As the seasons begin to change and the autumn chill starts to give way to what winter will bring, and the darkness creeps around longer, the temptation to stay cocooned in the warmth of our homes becomes increasingly alluring. The mere thought of stepping out into the biting cold can be daunting, especially for our students. However, braving the cold and making the effort to attend school holds significant importance that extends beyond the immediate colder mornings.

Establishing routine and consistency for all of us, but especially our students, is vital for developing academic and personal success. Heading off to school regardless of the weather helps solidify a routine that students can rely on, providing assistance with time management, an increase in productivity and a structure that allows the promotion of learning throughout all areas of the curriculum.

Developing social and emotional skills are crucial during a child’s schooling and with regular attendance students do not miss out on the interactions with their peers.  The camaraderie shared with classmates can act as a motivator and allow students to feel supported, safe and cared for.  Facing and overcoming common challenges together can strengthen these bonds and foster a sense of community, and this happens when students regularly attend school.

If as a parent/guardian you are struggling to get your daughter to school, for whatever reason, please reach out and talk to their classroom teacher or contact myself at the College.  As a team we are there to support, even if it is just to listen.

A Celebration of Holy Spirit Church

Last Sunday it was Pentecost Sunday.  Three Primary Leaders joined College Co-Captain Louisa Eaves, Mission Leader Lilly Cousens, Santhvana Jilljil, Sanjana Jilljil and Sara Thelappilly who were altar servers, and members of the College Leadership Team, to help the Sandy Bay Parish celebrate the 90th Anniversary of The Founding of the Holy Spirit Church.

Thanks to Amelia Hall and Isabella Fabrizio who represented the Primary Leadership team and to Anju Jilljil, also a Primary Leader, who assisted in altar serving.
