PREP NEWS

WOW ! The Preps have had such a HUGE two weeks. Here is a snippet of what they have been doing.

Going back a little further, we had a fabulous time doing lots of fun activities. Parents came to share in the fun dice games, measurement and pattern activities then we made our way around the school participating in a Maths Scavenger Hunt followed by activities that our senior school children planned.

The Firefighters came to school to visit the Preps. They talked about good fires and bad fires and how important it is to have smoke alarms at home. The firefighters will be back to show the children the fire truck and ask the children if they have talked about a safe meeting place at home.

Then, we had lots of activities during Reconciliation Week. We had sensory trays filled with rice or sand or flour or shaving cream. The children had to find the indigenous symbol and trace it. We learnt about our Acknowledgment to Country and did some activities about our House groups. The children really enjoyed these activities.

Grade 5 children have been doing a “Life “ programme.  The grade 5 students have been visiting us on a Wednesday and group the children for fun cooperative games such as Bowling and Target Throw to name a couple.

But this is not all !

The children have been learning about living things in STEM and making terracotta tiles for our indigenous area.

More about that another day.

Well done Prep children. Your teachers certainly enjoy providing lots of fun learning and we really enjoy sharing time with the senior children.

Glen Iris Firefighters returned to Prep this week.

The Preps had a fabulous time on Monday morning when the Firefighters visited us again.

The children had a turn squirting water on the oval and then looked at the fire truck.

Did you know a fire truck has 8 wheels, 4 doors, and the lights on the front flash red then blue?

We really had fun when the firefighters visited us.
