Focus on French

Bonjour!

My name is Laurence Barré, and I am replacing Emily who is now on maternity leave. I am delighted to teach French at Fairfield Primary School!

I was born in France in a tiny town called Saint-Maixent l’Ecole. It is in the Poitou region, which is in the Centre-West of France. When not teaching French, my native language, I enjoy cooking and sewing.

Now, here are some examples of the learning activities that have been taking place in the French room. All children have been practicing questions and answers to introduce themselves, to various degrees of difficulty.

Foundation students are answering “comment tu t’appelles?” (what is your name?) while playing a musical game.

Grade 1 students are practising questions and answers about their name and age with a ball game.

Grade 1 and 2 students are playing the “Hatchi Patchi” game, which is conducted all in French.

Grade 3 students are working on different questions and answers with Quizlet, the talking flashcards.

Grade 4 students are working in groups. They are concentrating on their designs for a term two front page in their workbooks, while a second group is working with Quizlet.

Grade 5 students are choosing and answering questions with “Word Wall”.

Grade 6 students have designed bilingual posters and welcome signs to support everybody’s learning.
