The Resilience Project
Bianca Harris | Wellbeing Coordinator
Dear Parents and Families,
Mental health statistics across Australia continue to be deeply concerning, which is why programs like The Resilience Project play such an important role in schools and communities. This program shares powerful, real life stories with students, staff and families, helping to make conversations about mental health more open, relatable and accessible.
Research consistently shows that when we experience more positive emotions, we build greater resilience. The Resilience Project focuses on three evidence based pillars known to strengthen wellbeing: Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness (GEM).
Alongside GEM, the program also highlights the importance of Connection, Purpose, Kindness, Emotional Literacy and Physical Health which are all essential ingredients for supporting happy, healthy young people.
GEM LEADERS - SEMESTER ONE
Congratulations to the following students who have been chosen to support our wellbeing initiatives, promoting Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM) throughout our community in collaboration with their peers for this semester.
Year 2 - Veda and Louie
Year 3 - Bella and August
Year 4 - Cormac and Harper
Year 5 - Olivia N and Jack
Year 6 - Lawrence and Christian

GEM chats are questions and prompts designed to start a conversation or encourage students to reflect on their GEM+EL habits. They also provide a great opportunity to build connections between members of your family. At St Aidan's we encourage GEM chats weekly and will provide you with many GEM chat prompts throughout the year.
We have placed a GEM chat banner on our front fence to encourage conversations in our community. We hope you enjoy using these prompts at drop off and pick up.

Have a great weekend.
Kind regards,
Bianca Harris
