Visual Arts Term 1

Visual Arts at Sunshine Heights Primary School 2026

At Sunshine Heights Primary School, Visual Arts plays an important role in nurturing your child’s creativity, confidence and self-expression. Our program encourages students to explore ideas, celebrate diversity and develop a strong sense of who they are, while building skills and understandings aligned with the curriculum. As students grow, so do their artistic skills, knowledge and creative thinking, supported by a positive growth mindset and a love of learning.

Hello! My name is Lauren Jamieson and I am the Visual Arts teacher at Sunshine Heights Primary School. This is my second year at Sunny Heights, and I feel incredibly grateful to be part of such a welcoming and supportive school community. I have been teaching for 14 years and bring experience across all specialist areas, as well as many years in the classroom. I thoroughly enjoyed my first year at Sunshine Heights and am very much looking forward to another exciting year of creativity and learning. If you see me around the school, please feel free to say hello!

Throughout the year, students will engage in a wide range of art experiences that build skills, knowledge and understanding. This includes learning about artists from different times, exploring different cultures, Indigenous art and much more. Students will also be encouraged to make choices, take creative risks and develop their own ideas and projects. While also working towards our annual Art Show in December, which was definitely a highlight of last year’s school calendar.

The beauty of our art classes is that there is no right or wrong, there is just ART. This allows students to truly “sail into a universe of possibilities” and express themselves with confidence and joy.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year ahead filled with creativity, curiosity and imagination.

Warm regards,

Lauren Jamieson
