Term 1 2026 Junior School
We hope you enjoyed a refreshing break, whether that meant relaxing at home, travelling, or a little of both. It has been such a blessing to have the school buzzing again with the enthusiasm our students bring each day. Despite the very warm start to the year, they have settled beautifully back into the strong learning routines we developed throughout 2025.
As we begin the 2026 school year, we are reminded of the privilege of partnering with you to nurture your children academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Research in early childhood education continues to affirm what Scripture has long told us: children flourish when they are surrounded by loving relationships, consistent guidance, and a community that champions their God-given potential.
Our focus continues to be on nurturing each child’s spiritual, academic, social, and emotional development. This year, we will continue to support strong academic growth through ongoing curriculum development, growth coaching for all staff, and a renewed commitment to explicit direct instruction. We are also being intentional in helping students understand how deeply they are loved by God. You may notice reminders in classrooms that we are “relentlessly pursued, ridiculously celebrated, and unconditionally loved” by our Heavenly Father.
Establishing predictable routines at home helps children arrive at school calm and ready to learn, and remaining engaged in your child’s learning is equally valuable. However, please remember that they may not be ready to talk about their day the moment they see you. Give them time to unwind and encourage them to share when they feel ready. (And on some afternoons, they simply may not want to talk at all—this is completely normal. After all, we adults don’t always feel like debriefing our day either!)
Close collaboration with your child’s teacher supports their motivation, confidence, and success. Please continue to stay in touch either in person or via email.
We invite you to attend our Parent Information Session on Wednesday, 4 February, with opportunities to visit each classroom at the following times:
- Foundation: 5:30pm – 6:15pm
- Years 1, 1/2, and 2: 6:15pm – 7:00pm
- Years 3/4: 7:00pm – 7:45pm
- Years 5/6: 7:45pm – 8:30pm
Each session will be held with your child’s class teacher in their classroom.
Other important dates for Term 1:
- Year 3–6 Water Safety Week – Monday 2nd to Friday 6th February
- Parent/Teacher Interviews – Tuesday 24 - Wednesday 25 February
- Year 3–6 Sports Carnival – Friday 20 March
- Grandparents and Special Friends’ Day – Wednesday 25 March
- Year 3–6 Cross Country – Thursday 9 April
For those who are interested in understanding how our Christian faith underpins all we do, and the foundational truths your children will encounter at Emmaus, we are pleased to continue offering Alpha (in both Mandarin and English) for parents and caregivers, commencing on Friday 6 February. Registration details will be available at the Information Nights.
