First Aid Update
Dear parents and caregivers,
Welcome back to school for 2026! As we begin the year, we’d like to share a few important health and wellbeing reminders.
First Aid at School
If your child is unwell or injured during the school day, their teacher will provide them with a red disc/token (for Junior School students) to take to the First Aid Room. Our First Aid Officers will assess and treat your child as needed.
- Minor issues will be managed at school, and your child may rest before returning to class.
- For more serious concerns, parents will be contacted by phone.
- If your child does not improve, you will be asked to collect them.
- All First Aid Room visits are communicated to parents via email.
The College holds Ambulance Cover for accidents and injuries (excluding pre-existing conditions). In emergencies, parents will be contacted, and an ambulance will be called.
Medications at School
All medications, including prescription medication, over-the-counter medicines, and alternative medicines (vitamins and nutritional supplements) are stored and administered through the First Aid Room. Staff are unable to give medication without the correct paperwork and labelling in place.
- A Medication Plan is required each school year for all medications that are not controlled drugs. (including prescriptions, paracetamol, ibuprofen, antihistamines, eye drops, ear drops, creams and vitamins)
- A Medication Plan for Controlled Drugs (S8) is required for restricted medications (such as Ritalin, Artige and Dexamphetamine) and must be signed by a registered health professional.
- All medication must come in its original packaging with a pharmacy label attached detailing your child’s name and the dose required.
- Please note that antibiotics prescribed three times a day can usually be given outside school hours.
Asthma
If your child has asthma, even if mild or infrequent, an Asthma Action Plan must be provided. This plan should be completed with your GP or specialist. Families are responsible for supplying their child’s reliever medication. Emergency asthma kits are also available across the College.
Other Medical Conditions
For students with diagnosed medical conditions such as anaphylaxis or seizures, a condition-specific Health Care Plan completed by a doctor is required. Once received, a Health Support Agreement meeting may be arranged with a First Aid Officer and your child’s teacher.
If your child has any medical condition, please ensure the Student Medical Information form is completed and returned as soon as possible.
All forms are available on our website via the button below.
Thank you for your partnership in caring for your child.

Register to Volunteer at Emmaus
Volunteers are an integral part of our community, giving their time, skills and expertise in various ways.
If you desire to inspire young people and see them flourish, we encourage you to apply to volunteer. There are many ways you can volunteer at Emmaus, such as excursions, camps, sports team assistance and classroom learning support and many more.
We will then email you with all the information you need, along with a link to our online volunteer induction.

NAPLAN 2026
The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a literacy and numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. These tests will take place between the 11th and 23rd of March. All tests are completed online on student Chromebooks (except for the Year 3 Writing test). Students will complete an online NAPLAN practice test in Week 5 to familiarise themselves with the digital format.
At Emmaus, we see these tests as an opportunity for our College to evaluate our teaching and learning program against the national and state benchmarks. As with all school assessments, we encourage students to try their best at NAPLAN; however, we do not place any extra pressure on our young people during this time. Any test preparation is meant to help students become comfortable in the testing environment. It is not necessary for your child to do any extra NAPLAN practice at home, as this can often add unnecessary stress.
We believe it is more beneficial for our students to focus on their regular schoolwork and continue to have a broad range of interests outside of school. Thank you for partnering with us in this endeavour. For more information about NAPLAN, please see the attachments below:

Have you read the Student Daily Guidelines for 2026?
The start of the school year is a great time to familiarise yourself with the Student Daily Guidelines.
Please take the time to read the Guidelines and discuss them with your child/ren.
Thank you!
